Industrial Chemicals
Sodium Gluconate
A white crystalline powder produced by fermenting glucose — used as a chelating agent, concrete retarder, water stabilizer and metal surface cleaner.
Overview
Produced through fermentation, refined for multiple industries.
Gluconic acid is first produced through fermentation, then reacted with sodium hydroxide and a catalyst in an in-situ process, followed by crystallization. Sodium gluconate is commonly used as an ion chelating agent, surface cleaner, pH buffer in food, stabilizer in food processing, setting-retarding agent in construction, and water-reducing agent.
In water treatment, it serves as a sequestrant for magnesium, iron, aluminum, copper and calcium ions. In textiles, it is used for fiber cleaning and degreasing, improving dye intensity. It is also used in oil well drilling as an ingredient in drilling mud, and in metal surface cleaning as an anti-corrosive cleaning agent.
Food Industry
A chelating agent and efficient stabilizer that masks bitter flavors — used in dairy, processed fruit & vegetables, cereals, processed meats and preserved fish.
Retarder in Concrete
Adding 0.5%–2% w/w to Portland cement prolongs starting and curing time, delaying initial and final set without affecting concrete strength.
Water Stabilizer
Used as a water stabilizer additive in cooling towers and cooling water plants, and in boiler-treated water applications.
Metal Surface Cleaning
Used to clean and degrease metal surfaces so cladding material adheres properly, with strong anti-corrosive performance.
Textile Industry
Used for fiber cleaning and degreasing, improving bleaching effect and the color intensity of dyes.
Oil Well Drilling & Cementing
Used in the production of drilling mud.
